This is a starting point, not a script - take what is useful, change what is not, and shape it around your class. It brings a Cyber Safe with Monkleton lesson into the classroom: the behaviour, not just the rule.
The big idea
Almost every online risk shares a pattern: a surprise, a rush, and a push to click, share, or pay. Spot the pattern and you can handle threats you have never seen before. And teaching someone else is the best way to find out you have really learned it.
Learning intentions (adapt to your class)
- I can describe the common pattern behind most scams.

A suggested shape
Starter (about 5 minutes)
Show three quick messages: a "bank" text, a "friend" asking for a code, and a "you've won" pop-up. Ask: what do all three have in common?
Explore (about 15 minutes)
Draw out the surprise-plus-rush pattern, then recap the habits from earlier lessons - pausing, keeping passwords and codes to yourself, checking the real source, and telling a trusted adult.
Practise (about 10 minutes)
Pupils teach one rule to a partner, or imagine explaining it to a six-year-old. Teaching it is the best test of whether they have it.
Safe Check plenary (about 10 minutes)
Pupils name the everyday habits: pause when something is unexpected; never share passwords or codes; check the real source, not the link; and when unsure, ask someone you trust.
